MILBANK, S.D. (AP) - The Western Consolidated Cooperative elevator of Milbank has been awarded more than $400,000 in court in a case related to the theft of thousands of bushels of soybeans.
A 58-year-old Corona man, Lynn Pew, was convicted in the theft, which occurred between January 2003 and January 2005. In late 2006, he was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison.
FBI agents investigated the criminal case, which was heard in federal court.
West-Con sued Pew, his wife and the LaBolt Farmers Grain in LaBolt, where Pew sold much of the stolen grain. A judge ruled in state court last month that West-Con is entitled to $424,334 from Pew and the LaBolt business.
