Fire Destroys Morgan Feed Mill
June 06, 2008
Fire has destroyed a feed and pellet mill at a grain elevator in the southwestern Minnesota town of Morgan.
Seven fire departments have been on the scene at the Harvest Land Cooperative elevator since Friday.
The elevator apparently sustained little damage, but the feed and pellet mill was destroyed. A grease storage tank used to add fat to the feed complicated firefighting.
Minnesota Highway 67 through Morgan is closed because the co-op is next to the roadway.
Xcel Energy had to cut power to the entire town of Morgan and the Lower Sioux Community because overhead power lines are located next to the plant.
No one was hurt. Authorities don't know what caused the fire, and a damage estimate is not available.
