Elevator Explosion Triggers Outpouring of Help in Vernon Center (01-04-06) -- The new year will bring a new grain elevator to this southern Minnesota town, where two months ago an explosion blew the roof off an elevator.

Billion-dollar pileup (11-08-05) -- Minnesota's big harvest, combined with damage inflicted in the South by Hurricane Katrina, has snarled Mississippi River barge traffic and left crops stored on the ground.

Grain elevator explodes in Vernon Center (10-25-05) -- The explosion happened about 7:15 a.m. as a tractor-trailer unloaded corn into the nearly full elevator, said Police Chief Kyle Hubert. He speculated that corn dust fueled the explosion.
